It MIGHT be official!

Okay, so I think I know the answer to the question that plagued me about that New Year's Eve Tucanos ad.  On the 17th of December, I received another online coupon announcement from them!  It was of the "Share It" variety.  You all know what I'm talking about, right?  It says that I can "share" the gift of Tucanos, and get a discount on the coupon.

This is where the ad gets tricky, and I'm curious how it worked out for them, since the promotion only lasted until the 22nd of December.  They used a graphic that subtly drew my eyes to the large "Buy Now" button, in the hopes that I'd click without reading the copy that the arrows guided me past at first.  I'm sure there's a technical term for that; if I remember, I'll ask my podcast co-host, Jay Rumisek.

The point is that I didn't click, since I'd been wondering if I'd get another ad from Tucanos.  Instead, I went back and read the copy.  I soon realized that it was an AWFUL deal, offering a $50 gift certificate for $43 dollars.  Granted, it was a buy-it-for-someone-else ad, but a loyal customer, like myself, should expect a better deal that seven dollars; even if it was $10 off, it would've been a better deal!

What do you think about these ads?  Have they been leading me along for the past month?  It starting to seem like it!  Post a comment to let me know what you think.
